What is the ICA Young Scientist Conference Attendance Grant?
The International Commission for Acoustics (ICA), with the support of other Organizations, has established the Young Scientist Conference Attendance Grants (YS Grants) Programme to help young acousticians attend the ICA International Congress on Acoustics.
The amount of money attributed to each grant is decided by the ICA Board from which a portion will be used to cover the conference registration and the remainder provided at the time of the conference. The young acoustician may use the receipt of the award of the prestigious YS Grant to assist with obtaining additional funding from other sources. Candidates must be under 35 years old on the day of the Congress’s opening ceremony and may be either undergraduate or postgraduate students, postdoctoral or young acousticians. Special attention will be given to applicants from developing countries.
The current edition
The Young Scientist Conference Attendance Grants are available at the 25th International Congress on Acoustics (ICA 2025), 18 – 23 May 2025, New Orleans, USA.
The amount of the YS Grant
Each grant is up to 500 (Five Hundred) USD.
When to apply?
Applications for the 2025 YS Grants are now being accepted. The deadline is 18 November 2024.
Submission Procedure
Submissions should be sent only by filling out the YOUNG SCIENTIST CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE GRANTS APPLICATION FORM.
Submissions by email or airmail cannot be accepted.
The submission must include the following:
- Support from the candidate’s supervisor with his/her signature and supporting letter within 100 words (PDF file).
- Support from an officer of the candidate’s local acoustical society (PDF file). This society must be a member society of the ICA. Details of the member societies can be found here.
- An abstract of the paper (max 1200 characters) that the applicant intends to submit to ICA2025.
- One page of theory/experiments/results/conclusions (PDF file).
- A copy of identity card or passport (*) (PDF file).
(*) Personal data will be processed exclusively for the correct use of the YS Grant Program in accordance with Regulation EU 2016/679 on the protection of personal data.
Notification to the successful applicants will be provided by 9 December 2024 along with their complimentary registration identification number.
The successful applicants will need to complete the registration, comply with the deadlines for submissions as prescribed at ICA2025 and participate in the congress. To receive the certificate and the residual grant money, the successful candidates must attend the congress, present personally to the conference organizers with verification documents such as passports or identity cards, and present their papers. Note that no payments will be made to the successful candidates prior to the congress.
