  • 5th Edition of the Symposium on Acoustic Metamaterials, SAM 2026

KU Leuven Oude Markt 13, Leuven, Belgium

The 5th Symposium on Acoustic Metamaterials (SAM 2026) will be held in Leuven, Belgium, from 15 to 18 April 2026. Organised by the Young Researchers in Acoustic Metamaterials (YRAM) network, SAM has become a reference meeting in the field of engineered materials with unprecedented acoustic properties. Acoustic and elastic metamaterials are transforming the way sound and vibrations can be manipulated, with emerging applications in noise control, sound absorption and insulation, vibration damping, ultrasonic imaging, energy harvesting, and even seismic protection. SAM 2026 is designed primarily for Early Career Investigators (ECIs) and Ph.D. students, offering them a high-visibility platform to present their work and exchange ideas with peers and leading experts. The scientific program will feature around 30 oral presentations and four plenary lectures delivered by internationally renowned researchers. Sessions will cover a wide range of topics, including novel metamaterial concepts, phononic crystals, non-reciprocal wave manipulation,

  • ICUA2026 International Conference on Underwater Acoustics

University of Strathclyde Technology & Innovation Centre (TIC) Glasgow, United Kingdom

ICUA2026 will have a series of oral sessions covering a broad spectrum of international underwater acoustic research. There will be keynote speakers and the AB Wood Medal presentation. We are planning several social events for some informal and relaxed times. These include a conference dinner, a walking tour, a whisky tasting evening and an IOA Young Members and Early Careers Group evening. The conference venue is centrally located in the main historic area with many restaurants and hotels.

  • Acoustics and Vibrations Academy (AVA): Current trends and advanced methods in acoustics and vibrations

This event aims to introduce recently developed systems and methodologies in acoustics and vibration through three themed modules delivered over two days. Module 1: Future Soundscapes; covers soundscape and psychoacoustics, the use of AI in soundscape studies, and hands-on workshop on sound design for future e-mobility. Module 2: Room Acoustics Analysis Methods and Solutions for Open Plan Offices; covers sound propagation models, acoustic design and measurement of open-plan offices in line with updated ISO standards - ISO 22955:2021, ISO 3382-3:2022; and a hackathon on metamaterials and hands-on design of a prototype for office. Module 3: Non-Linear Modal Analysis and Substructuring; covers mechanical vibrations, experimental non-linear modal analysis based on the patented method recently developed by Prof. Dr. Nevzat Ozgüven, substructing and hands-on measurement practice.

Adelaide Convention Centre North Terrace, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia

The theme for the Congress, “From the outback to the ocean,” reflects the breadth of topics to be covered — from core issues in noise and vibration control to applications and challenges that are characteristic of remote areas. The program will feature oral and poster presentations, keynote and plenary addresses by leading researchers, and provide ample opportunity for thoughtful discussion with peers, catching up with friends and meeting new people. In addition to the technical sessions, the Congress will include a technology packed exhibition, site visits to regionally relevant facilities, and a range of networking opportunities — including a welcome function, conference dinner, and sessions supporting Women in Acoustics and early-career professionals.

  • Future for Drone Noise Management and Regulation

    Adelaide , Australia

While there are well developed approaches to policy for management and regulation for road, rail and aircraft noise, the new transportation noise source of drones and their applications is progressing faster than the policies and regulations. Research and innovative design is leading to drones with lower noise however coupled with this is the development of larger drones for a wider range of applications. Many of these new applications are of benefit to the community and this presents a challenge for the regulators in that these developments are happening faster than the studies of the effects of drone noise.
